Do you like to read about contemporary
issues? Do you enjoy having engaging
discussions about books you've read?
If so, Books and Brews is for you!
What is Books and Brews?
Books and Brews is a monthly book group that
spotlights contemporary social, political
and economic issues we encounter as citizens
and volunteers.
What is the format for the book group
meetings?
Books and Brews meetings are held at
different bars and restaurants throughout
the Boston area. After introductions, a
discussion follows where volunteers have a
chance to get to know one another and also
discuss different aspects of the book.
Participants will engage in meaningful
discussions regarding the issues addressed
in the book and what, as volunteers, they
can do to actively address the subject at
hand.
As a new feature for the 2007 Books and
Brews calendar, we will provide Books
and Brews partner programs where
volunteers can participate in a discussion
with a speaker well versed on the subject of
that month’s book, or go on a tour of the
area of Boston where the book is based. This
new feature will increase engagement and
heighten the fun!
