Would you like to become more informed about the
countries we hear and read about in the news? Do you
want to better understand how history has shaped the
world we live in today? If so, than Understanding
Our World is for you.
What is Understanding Our World?
Understanding Our World
is a monthly lecture and discussion forum, focusing
on a different region of the world at each session.
Participants will become empowered through
understanding and gain an appreciation for the
region, its history, and the significance of
colonization, religion, and ethnicity. This program
is open to the public, and draws people from all
over the community who are interested in learning
more about the international world.
What is the format of Understanding Our World?
For each session, a speaker who is knowledgeable
about the region will give a brief lecture outlining
the region’s history and present situation. After
the lecture, the floor will be open for questions
and discussions surrounding the topic.
