UPCOMING SERVICE PROJECTS
New Barn Service Projects are large scale
projects that are focused on providing support to social service
organizations throughout Massachusetts. The following projects are
currently accepting New Barn volunteers.
YMCA Camp Wakanda (Boxford)
Saturday, May 2
1:30-4:30pm
The YMCA of Greater Boston is dedicated to improving the health of
mind, body and spirit of individuals and families.
Camp Wakanda offers young people a variety of activities to choose from
like swimming, boating, archery, crafts, sports, challenge courses,
drama, and nature trails. The camp services 150-175 children daily with
ages ranging from five to 16 and is licensed by the Department of Public
Health and is ACA accredited.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks which may include painting,
landscaping and flower planting.

Handi Kids (Bridgewater)
Sunday, May 3
11:00am-3:00pm
Handi Kids is a non-profit, recreational facility for children and young
adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. Handi Kids’ 20-acre
complex is entirely handicapped accessible, offering programs including
music, dance, sports, and many more recreational activities.
Volunteers are needed for basic property work including mulching, flower
planting, raking, pruning and replanting, as well as for painting and
other possible outdoor projects.

Habitat Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary (Belmont)
Sunday, May 3
1:00pm-4:00pm
Massachusetts Audubon Society is the largest conservation organization
in New England, concentrating its efforts on protecting the nature of
Massachusetts for people and wildlife. On Belmont Hill, just a few miles
northwest of downtown Boston, lies Habitat, an 88-acre urban oasis that
has been devoted to environmental education since 1970.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of property maintenance projects.
Projects include removing invasive species, meadow reclamation, building
raised beds, painting garage, planting community garden, wood-chipping
trails, and brush clearing.
PLEASE NOTE: Volunteers must wear long
pants, long sleeves, and sneakers or hiking boots. Some drinks will be
provided but volunteers must bring their own water. Gloves will be
provided but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own.
