Susan
G. Komen for the Cure recently hosted an Ultimate Drive event. As a
result, BMW donates $1 for every mile that customers test drive
dedicated vehicles with pink ribbons on them.
The Ultimate
Drive event coordinator, Paula Goldfarb, needed volunteers to drive
the BMW fleet from Boston to the Westbrook, Maine dealership and
came to the Boston Cares
Grapevine for help. She was impressed at how easy the process
was and the number of volunteers she was able to find. Of the 20
volunteers needed, 17 were Boston Cares members. One of the Boston
Cares participants, Kate Walker, was happy to have found the
opportunity, “It’s a great referral system that Boston Cares has--it
connected me to this great event that I would have never have found
on my own!”
Other agencies
have had great experiences with
Grapevine as well. Sabrina Barron from AFC Mentoring said, "A
good portion of our volunteers come from Boston Cares! As an
organization dependent on volunteers, recruiting through Boston
Cares is not only a pleasant and effortless experience, but the
volunteers who are referred to us through this site are some of the
most consistent and dedicated volunteers I've ever worked with! A
huge thanks to this site and the enthusiastic staff who keep it
running."
