Tutor at Greater Egleston Community High School's Online Learning Academy
Greater Egleston High School is a small pilot school for 16-21-year-olds in grades 10-12. They support instruction inclusive of diverse learners, and provide students with career training, community internships and tools to help them reach higher education. The school has a very high college attendance rate, and a 100 percent graduation rate (35 seniors) in 2009.
The Credit Recovery program is designed for students to make up academic credits that they need in order to graduate. This program was piloted in 2008 and resulted in an annual increase in attendance, enrollment, graduates and overall enthusiasm.
Volunteers will be tutors for this program and will work 1:1 with students to guide them through the material. This is a computer-based program that takes place in the classroom.
Students tend to need the most help in math, but all subjects are covered. Volunteers are asked to be flexible and the school will do its best to pair you with a subject in which you're most comfortable tutoring.
T-Accessible, Orange Line (Stony Brook).
This project is reserved for Boston Cares members who have attended an orientation.
