Spring TeamWorks 2014: McLaughlin Historic Orchard

Boston Cares TeamWorks Program is focused on facilitating the shift from casual volunteering to intentional citizenship. Each team consists of a series of three to five projects you participate in with a group to learn about specific issues, organizations and/or communities encountered through volunteerism. Read below for more information about this specific team:
Winter is so last season. Its spring and time to get your hands dirty. Join the City of Boston's Urban Wilds as they take good care of a city orchard in need of your help! The McLaughlin Historic Orchard on Mission Hill is one orchard that has been identified as high need. Let’s reinvigorate this space to make the orchard safe, accessible, and productive for the students and Mission Hill Community. Throughout these projects, volunteers will perform a variety of tasks in and around the orchard. Tasks include: weeding, pruning, clearing debris, removing invasive species, and mulching. Additional efforts will be made to not only beautify the orchard, but to also revitalize the surrounding green spaces around the school. No garden or orchard experience required - just interest & hard work!
All project dates are listed below.
Participation in TeamWorks requires a commitment to the projects at the Orchard listed below (the Kick-off is optional). When you click "sign-up", you will be signing up for all the dates listed below. If you cannot make one of the dates, please email Kelly Dwyer at kdwyer@bostoncares.org.
