Cooking for a Cause to Benefit the East End House

East End House’s eleventh annual Cooking for a Cause will take place on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the MIT Media Lab. The event will bring together some of the top chefs, mixologists and specialty vendors in the area for an extraordinary evening to benefit the essential programs East End House provides to the community.

We are now recruiting volunteers to help the evening run smoothly. Volunteers will work a shift and then be able to enjoy the event. Volunteer tasks include registration, coat check, assisting with our live and silent auctions, etc. We have 2 volunteer sessions scheduled and we ask that you attend one. Sessions are Wednesday, March 26th from 6-7pm or Saturday, March 29th from 3-4pm. These sessions will take place at East End House, 105 Spring Street, Cambridge, MA 02141.

About East End House
East End House has been making a positive impact in the lives of children, youth, families and community members since 1875. Our Theory of Change aligns all programming with the long term goal that children and youth enrolled in our Child Care, School Age, Middle School and High School Programs will complete at least two years of post-secondary education or be gainfully employed by age 24. We approach this goal with a holistic approach that addresses basic needs; nurtures children’s academic, social-emotional and physical development; and works with family and community to promote a vibrant network of support. We need your help to continue to sustain and improve high quality programming that meets our community’s evolving needs.

This year, your involvement in Cooking for a Cause will help us:
• Engage high school students in a Food in the Urban Environment Leadership (FUEL) internship.
• Develop replicable, hands-on genetics curriculum about forensics, animal health and more.
• Provide Thanksgiving Baskets for over 1,000 low-income families.
• Support more than 4,000 children, youth, adults and seniors with a continuum of need-responsive programs and services that nurture families and draw together a vibrant community.

This event is 18+.
