A 9/11 Tribute: Help Manage Military Care Package Drive

Boston Cares is teaming up with the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund to assemble care packages for military from Massachusetts serving overseas and our veterans at home utilizing the services of the New England Center for Homeless Veterans.

Volunteers are needed to help manage all aspects of the drive from receiving donations and sealing packages, to staffing registration and making sure the volunteer line moves smoothly.

Volunteers for the early morning shift will help collect and sort donations, and place them out in preparation for assembly. Second shift volunteers will help manage and participate in assembly, packaging, and clean-up.
Volunteers are welcome to stay for both shifts, but must sign up for both projects.

Please note: volunteers should be comfortable standing for long periods of time and lifting at least 20lbs.

This project is part of the Boston Cares 9/11—Remember & Serve Initiative.  In 2009, the passage of the Edward M. Kennedy ServeAmerica Act formally recognized September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance under federal law and Presidential Proclamation.
