Lend a hand at the We Are Boston Gala

The Office of New Bostonians (MONB) was created in 1998 to ensure that new immigrants have access to the civic, economic, social and cultural life of Boston. MONB has been nationally recognized as a model in assisting newcomers to overcome barriers and challenges. Every year, MONB helps over 1,000 New Bostonian residents attend an English class, access city services, open a new business, receive free immigration advice from volunteer lawyers, find a job or buy their first home. In return, New Bostonians have contributed to the vitality and prosperity of the City.

This year, Mayor Martin J. Walsh will be hosting the event and our distinguished honorees are:

1.     Leadership Award -The Honorable Margaret H. Marshall, the 34th Chief Justice of the MA. Supreme Judicial Court and an immigrant from South Africa, for her outstanding accomplishments on behalf of diversity and human rights.

2.     Community Champion- Goodwin Procter LLP. 25 Goodwin attorneys provided pro bono legal counsel for Citizenship Day in Boston this Fall and assisted 185 eligible legal residents to become US citizens.
