Family Volunteer Day: Bedtime Dream Kits (Ages 5+)



Come out and make a difference with families from all over the Greater Boston area! Volunteers of all ages and their families and friends will gather at the IUEC Local 4 (International Union of Elevator Constructors) building in Dorchesterto participate in the nation-wide Family Volunteer Day program hosted by the HandsOn Network and sponsored by Disney.

Family Volunteer Day will be jam packed with fun times and community involvement. There will be one session from 10am-12pm.

Participants will create Bedtime Dream Kits including dream catchers and dream journals, which will then donated along with toddler beds to children transitioning out of family shelters all around Greater Boston. Creativity is encouraged!

Volunteers ages 15+ who are interested in signing up to build toddler beds at the Family Volunteer Day event can sign up to do so here.



Kid Friendly, 5+. If you are at least 13 years old and have registered with Boston Cares, you may sign up but must attend with an adult over the age of 18.

If a family/group member is under 13 years old, please register and sign up any group members who are over 13, and immediately email Kelly Dwyer at kdwyer@bostoncares.org with 5-12 year old participants' full names and birthdates (00/00/0000).

Groups of volunteers must sign up with at least 1 adult volunteer (age 18+) for every 3 youth volunteers (ages 17 and under). 

This project is open to pending members who have registered with Boston Cares. You do not need to have attended an orientation.

All volunteers under 18 years old must bring a Permission Form signed by a parent or guardian to give to the Volunteer Leader at registration.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: The actual event will NOT be held at 50 Park Street. Once you have arrived at 50 Park Street, turn onto Mapes Street and follow for about 1/4 mile. The IUEC Local 4 building will be on your left. Plenty of parking is available. The location is less than a 10-minute walk from the Fields Corner Red Line MBTA station.
