Help Outdoor Access with Winter Activities

Come play in the snow and meet great people! We provide accessible recreating opportunities for people with different abilities so family and friends can play together. We have custom equipment such as sit-down skis, kick sleds, ski walkers and upright gear such as skiis and snow shoes. Our participants come alone or with families and day programs. We serve folks of all ages with all different types of physical, mental health and cogitive abilities, that may need help to move from their wheelchair to a sit-ski or walk together to use snow shoes and help if they fall.


We have different tasks for volunteers:
BASECAMP ACTIVITIES:
~meet and greeters 
~gear coordination (stay at base-camp and keep gear organized)
~help put on gear: snow-shoes and skiis 
~basecamp games with kids and groups
 
ON THE SNOW ACTIVITIES:
~trail guide (on the snow with participants, groups) (need lots of on-snow guides)
~cross-country ski instructors (we'll teach you how to teach, we teach  basic skills) 
~help skiiers, snow-shoers (trail guide, cross country ski instruction, push sit skiis)
~on-snow games 



Focus is on fun and creating a comfortable environment for participants to try new things. We enjoy fun activities such as, tracking animals in the snow and play group games in the snow. All activities take place at the Weston Ski Track.

The Outdoor Access Winter season starts with a REQUIRED volunteer training on Sunday, January 12th (snow date is 1/19/20), aat Weston Ski Track (sign up below). We teach you everything you need to know...disability awareness, sighted guide techniques, assisting with gear: sit-skis, kick-sleds and snow-shoes on the trails, and lots more!

Program dates: (volunteer training required to participate)

Sundays: January 26, February 2,  9, 23
Weekdays: February 6, Holiday Monday February 17, February 18 and 27
