New Volunteer Orientation and Holiday Card Making Project

Want to learn more about volunteering throughout Greater Boston while also giving back to our Veterans this Veterans Day? Join Boston Cares on November 11th and attend a New Volunteer Orientation as part of the City Awake Festival.

After the orientation, help make Holiday cards for the New England Center for Homeless Veterans while learning about the many programs Boston Cares has to offer. After attending, you will have access to a variety of volunteer projects each month throughout the city of Boston as a Boston Cares member.

Boston Cares mobilizes more than 25,000 volunteers annually in support of Greater Boston schools and non-profit agencies. We offer a wide array of programs and opportunities that make it easy for you to volunteer no matter how busy your schedule is. Our signature Calendar Program features more than 200-250 projects each month through which members volunteer at a variety of projects which can include planting community gardens, serving meals to the homeless, cleaning parks, GED prep for adults, ushering at cultural performances and much more. The purpose of the New Volunteer Orientation is to introduce you to Boston Cares, including our mission, programs and history while also teaching you how to sign-up for projects on our Calendar.

Please note that Boston Cares collects a one-time registration fee from all new members. The registration fee is used to cover the costs associated with managing volunteer projects. The fee will be collected at the Orientation and can be paid using cash, check or a credit card. The cost is $25 for individual members, $40 for families, and $15 for students, seniors and unemployed. The fee is waived for active AmeriCorps volunteers and Middle & High Schoolers.

After the Orientation join fellow new volunteers and Boston Cares staff to make holiday cards to Veterans that will be donated to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. Refreshments will be provided!
