Playspace Shines with Horizons for Homeless Children

Horizons for Homeless Children's Playspace program ensures that children living in shelters have access to developmentally appropriate play. Playspaces are stocked with books, enriching games, and arts and craft supplies. As part of their agreement with each shelter partner, Horizons for Homeless Children is responsible for quarterly maintenance of the Playspace to ensure the overall health and safety of the program. Volunteers will help achieve this by conducting (4) deep-cleaning maintenance of each Playspace annually which includes: wiping down all toys, equipment and surfaces, reorganizing the room to meet our program design standards, restocking the space with toys and materials as needed, and removing any items that are unsafe and/or outside our design methodology around trauma informed care. Volunteer groups support the quarterly maintenance program by signing up and helping us clean each Playspace more thoroughly and efficiently than if we had to do them all only with our team of four in the Greater Boston Region.

This project is reserved for Boston Cares members who have completed an orientation.
