Cook for Kids in Need
The Campus Kitchen at UMASS Boston is a part of the national organization The Campus Kitchens Project. It works to rescue good food on campus and throughout the community that would otherwise be thrown out, create healthy meals, and send those meals to family in the Boston community that are struggling with hunger.
During cooking shifts, volunteers rescue food from the dining hall as well as prepare and cook raw vegetables like potatoes, carrots, celery, lettuce, onions, and collard greens to make side dishes and salads for the meals. Got a passion for doing good? Spice things up and come cook for families who need it the most! Volunteer cooks will prepare food for kids living in a food insecure environment in the Greater Boston Area, participating in summer camp programs on the UMASS Boston Campus.
Thanks to our food rescue partners, all meal ingredients used come from reliable sources such as grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers markets around Boston. Less wasted food + More well-fed citizens = Everyone wins.
T-Accessible: Red Line to JFK/UMASS + UMASS Shuttle
