Instructional Swim Lessons for Children with Disabilities

About Newton Athletes Unlimited: Athletes Unlimited is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and adults with disabilities through year-round recreation and leisure programs. It is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 by parents of children with disabilites in Newton to support the City of Newton's therapeutic recreation program.

Help children with disabilities learn basic swimming skills and feel comfortable in the water. Volunteers will work one-on-one with children ages 5-15 to provide a safe and fun learning experience. Volunteers must know how to swim and be comfortable in water. Children will be working on learning how to enter the water safely, put their face in the water, learn basic strokes & beyond depening on the ability of the swimmer. Saftey is number one, but having fun and getting to know the swimmers and sharing their accomplishments is the best part of being a volunteer. The Program Leader will assign volunteers to swimmers and assist in instructions as needed.
