Boston Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition and VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
Boston Cares is proud to partner with the City of Boston to support the Boston Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition Campaign, which helps put money back in the pockets of Boston's families by providing free tax preparation and financial guidance services.
If you're ready to volunteer for tax sessions, please read through the rest of instructions to find out how to get involved.
How to Sign Up for a Tax Preparation or Financial Guide Session
1. You must have attended Financial Guide training or be a certified Tax Preparer to sign up for EITC sessions. You must register an account with Boston Cares, but you do not need to attend a Boston Cares orientation.
-
Additional paperwork must be completed and processed before volunteering at an ABCD tax site. Please contact Vernette Allen at vernette.allen@bostonabcd.org if you have questions regarding your paperwork.
-
If you are interested in being trained as a Financial Guide, contact Joanne Evans at joanne.evans.jcs@cityofboston.gov (or 617-918-5364) to arrange training.
-
If you are interested in becoming a self-certified Tax Preparer, contact Kim Bomba at kim.bomba.jcs@cityofboston.gov for more information.
2. Choose a tax site.
Check out the tax sites overview for specific site information, and connect to site coordinators via the survey, through their site's website, or by signing up for a session.
3. Find upcoming tax sessions through the Boston Cares calendar.
Follow the links below to find Tax Preparation or Financial Guide sessions. They will not show up in a normal search. If no results are found, you may have to clear a previous search (in the lower right-hand corner of the search box) and reload the page.
