Community Conversations: Learn to Empower Youth Through Service!

Join us for a training led by Boston Cares and Teen Empowerment!

This session will provide an opportunity for volunteers who are interested in youth development to engage in an open dialogue, receive a training from the Boston-based organization Teen Empowerment, and to learn about opportunities to volunteer with youth this summer, including:

MLK Summer Scholars
John Hancock's MLK Scholars program addresses what is deemed a critical need in Boston - summer jobs for city youth. Each summer, John Hancock sponsors the employment of over 600 Boston teens at nearly 70 local non-profit organizations—the largest summer jobs program of its kind in United States. The MLK Scholars program is built on the inspirational values and legacy of its namesake, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

ServiceWorks
Boston Cares ServiceWorks is a youth engagement program developed as part of an initiative through Points of Light, AmeriCorps, and the Citi Foundation. Through ServiceWorks, we partner with youth organizations in the Boston area and offer a unique curriculum designed to engage young people aged 16-24, whom we call “Service Scholars,” in community service.

Corps
The Boston Cares Corps Program is an impact driven opportunity for volunteers dedicated to building and strengthening their skills, deepening their community engagement, and making a difference in the lives of Greater Bostonians. Our Corps focus on improving skills and resources in ESOL, Basic Technology, and Youth and Education. The Corps program combines Boston Cares’ signature flexibility with a focused commitment to a partner and the resources to make a measurable change.
