INACTIVE - Become a Vital Village Childcare Volunteer!

Vital Village is a network of residents and agencies committed to maximizing child, family, and community well being. Vital Village's Network Connection Meetings are designed to promote shared learning and collaboration by creating a space that builds connections, trust, and collective responsibility for our mission. Convenings are co-designed with network partners to maximize the diverse expertise and wisdom within the network.

Want to volunteer with youth on a monthly basis?

Join us on Wednesday, September 4 from 5:30pm-6:30pm for an orientation with Boston Cares and Vital Village to learn about this opportunity including volunteer expectations and program paperwork. A CORI/SORI background check will be required for all volunteers to participate.

What Vital Village Childcare Volunteers can expect:

Volunteers are needed to help with childcare activities & crafts, homework, and clean up at Vital Village's Network Connection Meetings.

Volunteers will be working with a wide variety of child ages. Within the childcare group, children may be split into groups by age for younger or older children.

Volunteers may work with other network partner organizations facilitating childcare activities (e.g. one organization may come to lead a meditation one night, another night one organization may facilitate an anti-bullying activity with children, etc.).

Volunteers should be comfortable being active with children, sometimes playing on the ground or picking children up.

Being a childcare volunteer requires someone who is flexible, responsible, energetic, a team player, can think on your toes, and loves children!

PLEASE NOTE: Volunteers will make a commitment to volunteer monthly for this opportunity (usually the 2nd Monday of every month).

Accessibility: This opportunity takes place at BU Medical Center, which is MBTA-accessible from the SL5 (Dudley), the #10 bus line, or an 18-minute walk from the Mass Ave stop on the Orange Line.
