Fill Grocery Bags for Families and Seniors at Huntington Ave YMCA

The YMCA of Greater Boston is providing bags of food and hygiene products to Boston families and seniors in need of additional resources during this challenging time. Volunteers will support this effort by putting together grocery bags of items for delivery.

Volunteers will be asked to practice social distancing while volunteering. Gloves and masks will be available but if volunteers are able to bring their own, that is recommended.

Physical requirements: standing for duration of assignment, lifting up to 20 pounds

Parking: Metered street parking

MBTA accessible: 4 minute walk from Northeastern University (Green Line), 2 minute walk from Massachusetts Avenue (Orange Line)

Please Note: All potential volunteers for the YMCA of Greater Boston are required to complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check and provide the name and number of an emergency contact.  Once you have registered for one of the opportunities you will receive an email from the YMCA with a copy of these forms that will need to be submitted along with a copy of your photo ID.  All volunteers must have a cleared CORI and SORI prior to their first scheduled day, therefore it is recommended that you completed the process upon receiving the email.

Please sign up below for the shift you are available! We ask all volunteers to sign up using the form below so that we can accurately track volunteer numbers and ensure enough people are scheduled to help. If you sign up and then find you are unable to volunteer, please log into your Boston Cares account and remove yourself from the project via the "my account" page so that another volunteer can take your place.

The health and safety of everyone is our first priority. We ask volunteers to be aware of their own health before signing up to help. If you do not feel well or have a temperature, please do NOT sign up to volunteer. We will take all appropriate measures to ensure that both volunteers and students and families are safe throughout distribution by providing volunteers with gloves, hand sanitizer, and other safety measures.
