Deliver Food to Families Through the Fresh Box Program

Due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, there has been an increase in individuals and families visiting the open air market and a higher than normal need for volunteers to support. This volunteer opportunity is open to the community and any individual with a Boston Cares account and who follows our safety requirements may sign up. Having attended a Boston Cares orientation is not required. Please e-mail volunteers@bostoncares.org if you have questions. 

About the organization: About Fresh works to radically impact community health by celebrating food culture and getting fresh food to people that need it the most. A transformed bus serves as a mobile market full of fresh produce. The truck drives to a variety of neighborhoods around Boston to deliver fresh, healthy food to people who need it! Fresh truck operates weekly and open air markets.

Fresh Box is a community-based food delivery program developed in response to the COVID-19 crisis. About Fresh is partnered with the City of Boston and Boston-based hunger relief agencies to coordinate Fresh Truck Box program enrollment. Fresh Box is supported by the Boston Resiliency Fund.

Volunteers will directly support the Fresh Box program by delivering boxes door-to-door to households in need. About Fresh will train volunteers on safety protocol and provide all of the necessary safety materials.

Note: Driver's license and vehicle required. Volunteers should be able to comfortably lift 20 lbs.
