Volunteers are crucial to the success of this market. Volunteers will be divided into three groups: indoor pick-up distribution, curbside pick-up, and outdoor farmers market. Volunteers will carry out a variety of tasks including: welcoming people to the market, reminding customers of the safety protocols, distributing customer orders, assisting with curbside delivery, etc. You will receive more specific information about your assigned role the day before the market. 

About the Somerville Winter Farmers Market: The SWFM exists to operate a vibrant market that serves their community of customers and local food producers in the Massachusetts and New England region. They strive to bring a high quality venue for vendors to offer fresh, nutritious food to their community. As one of the few winter farmers markets in the Boston area, they believe this market provides an essential service to the community.

The SWFM believes this is a unique time in the food system. They have opportunity to engage with our community in a new way as people are becoming more aware of where their food comes from and the importance of supporting local businesses and farmers. They invite you to be part of this opportunity to strengthen their local food shed!

Please note: Volunteers must be willing to stand for 3.5 hours, for outdoor volunteers: be willing and able to be outside during all kinds of weather.
