MLK Weekend 2021: American Red Cross of Massachusetts Training

Join the American Red Cross of Massachusetts as they talk with front lines disaster workers about their roles and rewards, along with how they have risen to the challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hear about the front-line experiences and the back office support these valuable members of the organization provide.

Find where you might fit in while one of their guests from the Red Cross talks about outreach and recruiting efforts to make the Red Cross look more like the people that they serve! This session will also feature a 'behind the scenes' volunteer on how they have evolved many positions to be virtual to help protect clients and keep their workforce safe.

About the American Red Cross of Massachusetts:
The American Red Cross Massachusetts Region is part of the largest and most diverse service organization in the United States, serving the 6.6 million residents of the 351 cities and towns of Massachusetts. The Red Cross provides food and shelter in emergencies, operates the largest food pantry in New England, teaches lifesaving skills, trains nurses’ aides and certified nursing assistants, serves members of the Armed Forces, and more. All assistance from the Red Cross is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.

The Red Cross responds to hundreds of fires in the Massachusetts Region each year, serving families who have faced personal disaster, and in some cases, have lost everything. To do all this, a volunteer corps of thousands are trained to be ready when the time comes to assist communities in Massachusetts and nationally. Volunteers make up 95 percent of the Red Cross workforce and train in specialties such as shelter management, mass feeding, technology and casework.

*Volunteers under the age of 18 must submit a completed Parent Guardian Form and email it to volunteers@bostoncares.org by Wednesday, January 13th to participate.
