Job Readiness for Adult Learners at the YMCA International Learning Center
The goal of the International Learning Center is to support the effective resettlement of refugees and immigrants by offering them opportunities to develop their English literacy and the necessary computer skills to qualify for further education, job training, and better employment and to reach their full potential as family members, productive workers, and citizens.
Volunteers are needed to play the role of interviewer with English Language Learners at the YMCA International Language School
Help immigrants prepare for greater success in their adopted country by boosting their job preparation skills. Polishing the ability to respond to questions in a face-to-face or telephone interview enables them to advance in the jobs they hold, find better employment, or pursue higher education.
Your role: to act as a real-life job or college interviewer, using a provided questionnaire and evaluation form. The objective is to ask questions they might face in future situations and to note the comprehensive level of each response.
A resume for each student will be provided before the actual interviews begin. Each interview will run for less than ½ hour.
T-accessible: Government Center, Blue & Green Lines
