Cooking Matters: Be a Workshop Assistant

Are you interested in food justice and teaching youth the value of healthy eating?

Be a Workshop Assistant!

Cooking Matters serves a diverse audience of low-income families, who bring the richness of their backgrounds, cultures, languages and kitchen practices to Cooking Matters classes.

Most are enrolled in food assistance programs including SNAP (food stamps) and free or reduced-price school meals. Many also count on food pantries when other food sources run out.

Assist our trained Boston Cares member and Cooking Matters teacher instructor, Erin Dempsey, in a healthy cooking workshop for youth and families.

Assistants are fully involved in the cooking class experience.  They help to demonstrate cutting and cooking techniques, engage participants in discussion about nutrition and the importance of food health, and assist with setup and cleanup.

Please note: this workshop takes place in Lynn, MA.

This opportunity is open to Boston Cares members who have attended an orientation.
