Sort Donations and Staff Welcome Center for Puerto Rican Families

Sociedad Latina is looking for volunteers to help staff the Community Welcome Center for families leaving Puerto Rico after the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria. Volunteers are needed to help sort through donations, organize the donation room, and assist families in picking out donations to prepare them for the winter.

*Spanish speaking volunteers are encourage to sign-up! If you do not speak Spanish, we ask for a willingness to welcome families and help them feel comfortable!

Some background on the project:
After Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, Sociedad Latina, in partnership with the City of Boston and Boston Public Schools, opened it's doors as a Community Welcome Center for families leaving Puerto Rico. 

Starting on October 23rd, families are invited to Sociedad Latina to enroll their children in Boston Public Schools, get information about benefits and services available to them, and pick up a welcome package with clothing, school supplies and non-perishable food. 

About Sociedad Latina: Founded in 1968, Sociedad Latina is Boston’s oldest Latino youth organization. Our mission is to work in partnership with youth and families to create the next generation of Latino leaders who are confident, competent, self-sustaining and proud of their cultural heritage.
