About Victory Programs: Victory Programs has been helping individuals and families in crisis in the Boston area for over 40 years. Some 3,200 people turn to them each year for shelter, sustenance, recovery, care, and professional, compassionate support. When other organizations can’t or won’t take people in, they do.
Victory Programs’ Boston Living Center (BLC) is a community and resource center that fosters the wellness of all HIV positive people and responds to the changing needs of the HIV/AIDS community through education, treatment information, and support services. In an average year, their volunteers help serve over 30,000 meals at the BLC. All meals are designed by a nutritionist, and over 80% of BLC members report the BLC is the first or second source of food.
Help prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals to Boston Living Center (BLC) members! Please be prepared to help with tasks including serving meals, washing dishes, and cleaning tables. No kitchen experience required. This project is fast-paced and requires volunteers to stand for the majority of the 5 hour shift. If this is a concern, please contact the Volunteer Leader. Volunteers are required to wear a hat (one will be provided if you do not have one) and closed toed-shoes. Lunch is served every weekday, and volunteers are asked to be there for the full 4 hour shift to help with set up and cleanup in addition to serving the meal. Volunteers will be provided lunch as part of their service.
MBTA Line Accessibility: A few blocks from both Back Bay (Orange Line) and Copley (Green Line).
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
