Youth-Friendly Calendar Opportunities
The Boston Cares Calendar program offers over 200 volunteer projects each month that are group-based, flexible in nature, and led by a trained Boston Cares Volunteer Leader. We work closely with our agency partners to offer youth friendly projects through our calendar. For more information about the calendar program and to browse the calendar, please visit www.bostoncares.org/calendar
Volunteers ages 13 & older are required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation and have their own volunteer account. The purpose of the orientation is to introduce volunteers to our organization, programs, and policies, as well as to give volunteers an understanding of what to expect when volunteering with us.
Please note that each of our agency partners determines the age restrictions for their project based on their policies and the appropriateness of the project for young volunteers. Unfortunately Boston Cares does not have the ability to allow volunteers younger than the listed age requirements to register for a project. The overall minimum age for all Boston Cares programs is 5 years old.
All volunteers under 18 must bring a signed Parent/Guardian permission waiver with them to each project. We cannot allow youth volunteers to participate without handing it in to the Volunteer Leader or Boston Cares staff upon arriving at the service site. Waivers can be accessed online under the 'Forms' tab under 'Youth & Family,' or can be picked up in advance from our office.
