Global Youth Service Day 2014

Global Youth Service Day is an annual celebration of youth in service. GYSD is the largest service event in the world, engaging youth in over 100 countries and 6 continents. By participating in this project, you will be joining millions of youth everywhere for the world’s largest annual day of youth service!

During our Global Youth
Service Day we will be building and decorating Little Free Libraries. These are wooden structures that look like little houses and hold books. The concept is to "take a book, give a book." Our goal is to promote literacy by giving children access to more books. These libraries will be located at several youth organizations throughout the city of Boston.

Our goal is to donate these libraries already stocked with books! Please bring a book that is appropiate for kids from the age of 5 to 18 on the day of the event. This will help get these libraries started!

The event will be held at the New England Carpenters Center. Parking will be available.

Directions: Take the Red Line to Andrew Station. When exiting the station turn right onto Dorchester Ave. and the location will be approximately 1/2 mile.

Kid Friendly, 5+. All volunteers under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old.

All volunteers under 18 years old must bring a Permission Form signed by a parent or guardian to give to the Volunteer Leader.

Don't forget to bring a book (or several) to donate!
