GYSD 2015: Distribute Food at East End House Pantry

Are you under the age of 25, or volunteering with a youth who is?  Join us for Global Youth Service Day 2015! The project below is a great opportunity for youth ages 16+ to engage in service and participate in this special day of youth service.   Don't forget to share your service experience with us on social media #GYSD2015 and @BostonCares!

Volunteers set up/clean up the pantry space, help receive weekly produce donations, and assist clients as they choose their own groceries from our available fresh produce and shelf-stable foods.

People skills are a must for this opportunity! Our distribution is also an ideal time to employ or practice language skills - particularly Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Volunteers should be able to comfortably lift a minimum of 20 lbs, though we are happy to make reasonable accommodations.

This project is reserved for Boston Cares who have completed an orientation.

T-accessible: Red Line to Kendall/MIT, Green Line to Lechemere

About the East End House Pantry:
The East End House Emergency Food Pantry serves residents throughout the Boston area, primarily from East Cambridge. We support over 300 families per month by offering healthy fresh and shelf-stable foods in a dignified setting. By increasing access to good food, we promote the flourishing and achievement of children from low-income families.

We receive most of our food from the Greater Boston Food Bank, Food for Free, and Lovin' Spoonfuls. In addition, we receive donations from local food drives and individuals in the community.
The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
