Overdose prevention and naloxone (Narcan) administration training
Please join us at the Boston Cares office to get trained on knowing the signs of overdose and learning how to administer nasal Narcan (a medication used to reserve opiod overdoses). Narcan has been credited with reversing over 400 overdoses in Boston in recent years. The training will include: -Background information surrounding the opioid epidemic in Massachusetts and Boston. -Factors that increase an individual's risk for overdose. -How to identify the signs and symptoms of overdose. -The protocol for responding to an overdose (including the Good Samaritan Law and administering nasal naloxone). -Referral to services for risk reduction and access to treatment The training is located at Boston Cares, 90 Canal Street, Suite 610, Boston MA 02114. We encourage volunteers to take public transportation as we are located conveniently between North Station and Haymarket on the Orange and Green lines. Parking is metered in the surrounding areas.
