Nutritionally Thriving—Not Just Surviving—During an Emergency
Presenter: Barbara Hebert, certified health coach When power lines are down during a storm or other disaster, there’s no need to resort to crackers. Rather than consuming empty calories, there are foods you can eat that taste good and offer good nutrition. At the meeting, certified health coach and MRC and CERT member Barbara Hebert will give you her gustatory glimpse of nutritionally thriving— not just surviving—during a power outage or other emergency. Topics will include planning ahead for balanced nutrition— foods to stock, what to eat first, preparing food when there’s no electricity (the most common storm-related problem) and tips on food safety—including what to throw away and when. Nursing and EMT CEUs will be applied for and certificates of attendance available for all attendees.
