Organization Profile

MISSION: To meet the long-term health care and related service needs of physically disabled adults in an environment that fosters self-determination. DESCRIPTION: The Boston Home, based in Dorchester, Massachusetts, is a not-for-profit specialized care residence for adults with advanced Multiple Sclerosis and other progressive neurological diseases. Established in 1881 by Miss Cordelia Harmon, a trained nurse, The Boston Home is the only facility of its type in New England and one of only a few in the country. IMPACT: The Boston Home recently founded the Boston Home Institute, which has already received accolades for setting standards of excellence, conducting research, and sharing knowledge. This allows MS patients living outside the Boston Home to get involved with the rehab and day programs.
