The USES' mission is to act as a catalyst, bringing together the resources of participants, the community and the agency to: promote the stabilization and well being of individuals and groups at risk within the community; nurture personal growth and development; and build a sense of community and foster an environment where all can thrive. For over 115 years, USES has had a long-standing commitment to building the social capacity of Boston's South End and Lower Roxbury communities. With an annual operation budget of 3.5 million, USES assists individuals and families throughout the lifecycle, providing a wide range of intricately linked programs, including: infant/toddler, pre-school, and after-school child care, a residential camp for boys in Squam Lake, NH called Camp Hale, youth development programs including Arts Incentives Program for girls, Adult Basic Education, arts education for children, youth and adults in our historic Children's Art Centre, senior services such as hot lunches, recreational activities, technology training and health screenings and senior home repair, the South End Center for Adult Education, civic capacity building and civic engagement initiatives. USES' Early Childhood Education Program serves 67 children each day and their After School serves 52 youth every day. Camp Hale serves 120 boys every summer, the Children's Art center serves 230 each year, and the Arts Incestives Program serves 35 teen girls each year. USES serves over 500 people each year through basic and intermediate computer skills classes and provides daily open access to the community at the Timothy Smith Computer Learning Center. The Senior Services program serves over 1,000 seniors each year.
