Pollinator Garden Tending: Cleanup & Weeding

Pollinator Networks is a Boston-based organization that restores and constructs new native habitats for bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators. We combine a unique approach of community outreach, art, and education to create the foundation for sustainable change in local ecosystems.

Habitat destruction is one of the biggest threats to pollinator populations across the world. This group of creatures is vital to the process of plant reproduction, and creates a healthy ecosystem that other wildlife (including humans!) depend on. Bringing pollinators to local neighborhoods benefits plants and flowers all over the community. More pollinators mean more fruit, flowers and vegetables. Our garden has transformed a neglected eyesore into a community benefit.

Volunteers will be doing some basic cleanup, removing weeds under staff guidance, and with the possibility of some pruning. Volunteers will need to stand and bend over for the duration of their time in the garden. You will need to be able to climb a 3 ft wall with a small step ladder.

Bring a hat and water, and think about wearing clothes that cover your arms and legs. Plants can be scratchy! We have tools, but if you have your own, that's even better! You do not have to stay for the whole time; we are happy to have you come when you can!

Please Note: This is NOT the Everett Street in Downtown, this is in Allston! Google Map Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/k9YAS2yyGRau7reZ6

MBTA Accessibility: Bus #64, Boston Landing stop on the Commuter Rail on the Framingham/Worcestor line. Lots of free parking as well!

At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
