With the renewed nationwide focus on racial equity following the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other Black Americans, Boston Cares is committed to being part of the change. We are actively assessing our own programs and practices, and have formed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee comprised of Board, Associate Board, and Staff members. The DEI committee is working with Boston Cares leadership to develop new programming and training opportunities and to address race and equity as they relate to our work in the community. We recognize that Boston Cares volunteers serve diverse communities in all corners of our city, and yet, our volunteer and Board demographics are not yet fully reflective of that diversity. We want to bring a multitude of opinions and voices, from all cultures and backgrounds, to the table to grow and strengthen our organization, and are committed to attracting and retaining a board, staff, and volunteer base that are representative of the communities we work within.
