Horticulture Project on The Greenway

The Conservancy has sole responsibility for managing all aspects of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, including horticulture, programming, public art, maintenance, and capital improvements. Our Vision We envision a vibrant, inclusive, and evolving gathering place that offers healthy green space, fun, engaging, and thought-provoking experiences, and a testing ground for new ideas. We pursue our mission through park care that sustains year-round beauty, ensures safety, and models environmental stewardship; robust programming that showcases and supports the ingenuity and breadth of our community; and temporary exhibitions of contemporary public art that facilitate artistic experimentation and speak to our current moment; raising the standard of excellence for urban park management.

As a volunteer, you will be working with a group of other volunteers doing common gardening tasks such as weeding, raking, mulching, planting, and pruning. No previous experience necessary! Volunteers may need to be comfortable on their feet for 1.5 hours at a time. There will be a 15 minute break during the project, but volunteers are encouraged to break as they see fit.

Please note: The project locations are based on current park needs and may occur anywhere along The Greenway; updates will be sent to the signed up volunteers several days prior to the project. Please contact volunteer@rosekennedygreenway.org with any questions.

MBTA Accessiblity: The park follows Surface Road and Atlantic Avenue and is accessible by red, orange, blue, green lines and a walk. Major transit stations along the park include North and South Station.

At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
