Support the Union Square Farmers Market!

Union Square Farmers Market is integral to the Union Square community. It is a catalyst for vibrancy, community, and economic activity in Union Square. The Market provides visitors and residents with top-quality, fresh, and local produce at fair prices; encourages healthy eating and active lifestyle values; educates consumers about farming and locally sourced foods; and provides customers with opportunities to interact directly with farmers. The Market also provides information and education about community issues, promotes local activities and businesses.

Volunteers are needed to help the market run smoothly and safely, and help us assist 40+ vendors and 3,000+ shoppers each market day! Volunteers are also welcome to shop at the market during the project as well.

Shifts are split into three different time periods. Please read:

Set-Up (7am-9:15am): Assist vendors and Market Manager, unload products, set up tents and tables, use flagging tape and stanchions to create a perimeter, put up signage, greet customers.

During the market (8:30-11:30am): Assist Market Manager with customer counts, work with customers to process SNAP (formerly known as food stamps).

During the market/Breakdown (11:00am-1:30PM): Similar tasks to 8:30-11:30am shift plus assisting vendors and Market Manager break down tables and tents, put supplies in storage, and load up vendors' vehicles.

Please Note: Volunteers will spend most of their shift standing/walking around the market. Volunteers must be prepared to work no matter the weather outside in rain or shine/heat or cold temps, there may be some heavy lifting during set up & breakdown and while helping customers.  Skillsets that may be beneficial for this opportunity include being bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Mandarin, or English/Cantonese.
