Ellis Memorial & Eldredge House, Inc. offers high quality educational, social, and health support services to individuals and families in need within a safe, nurturing, diverse environment. Ellis Memorial, Boston’s first settlement house, was established in 1885. Since that time it has offered continuous care to children, disabled adults, seniors, and families who live and work in the South End and adjacent neighborhoods. Ellis Memorial provides a number of programs and services to the community including: the Infant/Toddler program, Preschool, Kindergarten, the Tent City Youth Program, Adult Day Health, nursing; and social services. In addition, they offer services at their Mellon Computer Center and Fleet Tutoring Center. The children at Ellis are involved in many activities and Ellis staff work as partners with parents to promote the development and education of these children. Ellis continues to be a 'neighborhood house' where friendly staff and volunteers provide education, information, and social services. Ellis Memorial's Preschool and Kindergarten programs provide full-time childcare services for 64 children. After-school services are offered to another 50 young people.
