Help Grow Food for Hunger Relief at Gaining Ground Farm!

About Gaining Ground: Gaining Ground is a nonprofit, regenerative farm in Concord, Massachusetts. They grow fresh organic produce for hunger relief with help from volunteers of all ages and abilities. In short, they grow nutritious food and they give it away to people who need it. For free.

From early April through late October, Gaining Ground depends upon thousands of helping hands working outside with their farmers, morning and afternoon. Volunteer sessions last two hours and take place entirely outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Volunteers will be assigned tasks upon arrival and will work alongside the Gaining Ground staff. Tasks can include planting, mulching, cultivating, harvesting, weeding and washing vegetables for distribution.

Address of Volunteer Opportunity: 341 Virginia Road, Concord MA 01742

MBTA Accessibility & Parking: Bus: Hanscom Airport route 62/76 or Commuter Rail train: Concord station. There is ample free parking available at the farm. Volunteers are encouraged to drive if possible, as it is a bit of a walk from the public transportation stops.

We recognize that the farm property is inaccessible for many folks and want to make visiting and/or volunteering available to all. If transportation to the farm is a logistical or financial barrier for you, Gaining Ground can offer an Uber voucher to sponsor the trip to and from Concord. Please reach out to Avery, avery@gainingground.org, to get a voucher and for more information about how they work.

At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
