MISSION The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, laving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer; through research, education, advocacy and service. DESCRIPTION The American Cancer Society raises funds for live saving research through signature events such as Relay for Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Daffodil Days as well as endurance events, golf-tournaments and galas. Money is also raised to provide services and programs to patients, survivors and their families. IMPACT The American Cancer Society has played a role in every major cancer research breakthrough ans is the nations largest privately funded of cancer research. 42 Researches funded by Society have won Nobel Prizes.
