Join us for Make A Difference Day 2016!

The Boston Cares Bed Project
There are more than 1500 greater Boston children that do not have a bed of their own.  Children without beds can have lowered self-esteem, ability to learn, and a reduced likelihood of graduating from high school.

Boston Cares has worked with skilled furniture makers to develop a simple bed design and assembly process that allows volunteers with minimal training or experience to produce beds that are attractive, sturdy, and easy to assemble.
Beds are distributed through agency partners to families with children transitioning out of homelessness and foster care.

Join us on October 21 & 22 at the IUEC Local 4 in Dorchester as we work to build 100 beds for children in need!

Volunteer shifts are available from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm on Friday, and 9am-12pm on Saturday. Volunteers will work on sanding lumber, installing hardware, assembling and painting beds.   Volunteers ages 10+ are welcome to participate alongside a parent or guardian (ages 10-14 will be assigned to painting beds).

Patricipation is $150 per person - register as an individual or a group, or create a fundraising page to help cover your participation fee as well as additional funds for mattresses and bedding.

Make A Difference Day is a great opportunity to get your team of employees involved!
