Become a Volunteer Financial Wellness Coach with Women's Money Matters

Women's Money Matters aims to empower women and girls to improve their financial health to create a more secure future for their families and communities.

There are a variety of commitment based opportunities available to become a Financial Wellness Coach for youth, women, elementary school girls, and for the Spanish program! Volunteer financial wellness coaches will guide participants or be paired one-on-one with a mentee to provide guidance, encouragement, and empowerment throughout the program.

Volunteers are need in a variety of locations, in-person and virtual, on a weekly basis. Learn more about the available opportunities below:

Connect with Elders in Your Community at Cooperative Elder Services

Volunteers will be supporting our Program Aides to provide engagement and support for our clients who are older adults with elevated care needs. Specifically, volunteers will provide companionship for clients and support our clients while engaging in activities and regular conversation as well as communicating with Program Aides when clients need additional support to use the bathroom, help with walking, etc.

Volunteers are needed every Wednesday, on a weekly basis, for one month from 12 PM-3 PM. If you are interested at all, please express interest so that you can then talk about scheduling with the organization!

Volunteer Tutors at BEST Hospitality Training

Volunteers will uplift our hospitality workers by strengthening essential skills that will help them to thrive personally and professionally. From strengthening skills in English communication & literacy, to helping them prepare for the Citizenship exam, volunteers have an opportunity to help transform the lives of our students.

Volunteers will meet with a student at least once a week for 30–60 minutes over a 3-month commitment, either in person or on Zoom (volunteers and students can extend their time together if they’d like). Volunteers are accepted immediately and on a rolling basis.

Youth Service Support Volunteers at The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell 

Volunteers are there to support the structured and planned activities that are presented by Club staff each day by building positive relationships with Club members during program time and offering one-on-one or group support.

Volunteers can commit on a weekly or monthly basis - this is flexible! Volunteers may choose any day between Monday and Friday, with available time slots from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A minimum commitment of 2 hours per session is required, and you may select your preferred start time within this window.

Become an ESOL Tutor with the Allies for Immigrants Program

Allies for Immigrants is a program Boston Cares runs in partnership with English for New Bostonians. The program trains volunteers to tutor adults in Enlish or help them prepare for their citizenship exam. Allies for Immigrants addresses the dual reality that ESOL classes are a gateway to economic advancement, social engagement, and citizenship, and through both in-person and virtual classes featuring one-on-one and small group conversations, the program has become a critical resource for adult learners. Join Allies and be a part of a passionate network of volunteer tutors!

To get started as Allies for Immigrants tutor, you must...

  • Be an active Boston Cares volunteer (you registered as a volunteer & attended a New Volunteer Orientation)

  • Be least 18 years old

  • Demontrate consistent attendance through your Boston Cares volunteer record

  • Attend an Allies New Tutor Training

  • Pick one site to serve at once a week for the forseeable future

Become a Volunteer Leader

Volunteer Leaders (VLs) are an integral part of the Boston Cares experience. The quantity and diversity of projects on our Calendar is possible with the support of staff at our nonprofit partners and our Volunteer Leaders. Serving as liasons between volunteers, our nonprift partners, and Boston Cares' staff, Volunteer Leaders ensure the projects they lead are a productive, fulfilling experience for everyone taking the time to serve.

Why should you become a Volunteer Leader (VL)?

To get started as Volunteer Leader, you must...

  • Be an active Boston Cares volunteer

  • Be least 18 years old

  • Attend at least 3 projects listed on our Calendar (not including a New Volunteer Orientation)

  • Demontrate consistent attendance through your Boston Cares volunteer record

  • Attend a Volunteer Leader training
