New Volunteer Orientation: Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

For MLK Day 2020, Boston Cares will create opportunities for 600 volunteers to support workforce readiness throughout the Boston area. 

In addition to the service projects, volunteers participating in the MLK Day of Service are invited to attend the streamlined, 30 minute version of the Boston Cares New Volunteer Orientation! 

Boston Cares is a flexible volunteer agency that connects individuals with volunteer opportunities throughout Greater Boston. To become a Boston Cares member and begin signing up for projects online, you must attend a brief, one-time New Volunteer Orientation. Every orientation covers the same material, so feel free to sign up for the session that best fits your schedule.

Individuals who have completed a New Volunteer Orientation have access to approximately 200 service projects each month, ranging from 1 to 6 hours. Our web-based system allows volunteers to register online for projects in advance and also to track and print out their volunteering history. 

This special New Volunteer Orientation is designed to accomplish several goals:

-Introduce new volunteers to Boston Cares, including our mission, programs and history

-Introduce new volunteers to each other

-Review the website, including how to sign-up for projects

All youth ages 13+ may register and attend orientations on their own. Youth under age 13 must attend with an adult over 18.

Please Note that signing up for this orientation does not mean you are signed up for the other MLK Day Service Projects.  The orientation will begin at 1:00pm at Boston Latin School.
