Serve Lunch at the Boston Living Center
Help prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals to Boston Living Center (BLC) members! Please be prepared to help with tasks including serving meals, washing dishes, and cleaning tables. No kitchen experience required. This project is fast-paced and requires volunteers to stand for the majority of the 5 hour shift. If this is a concern, please contact the Volunteer Leader. Volunteers are required to wear a hat (one will be provided if you do not have one) and closed toed-shoes. Lunch is served every weekday, and volunteers are asked to be there for the full 4 hour shift to help with set up and cleanup in addition to serving the meal. Volunteers will be provided lunch as part of their service.
Volunteers will be asked to sign a COVID-19 waiver before their first shift and answer questions about their exposure to COVID-19 before any subsequent shift. Safety measures, including masks and physically distancing, are in place for the safety of our clients, staff and volunteers.
Please note that Victory Programs now requires all volunteers at their programs to be fully-vaccinated against COVID-19. If you have not done so already, please send a photo of your vaccine card to the volunteer leader no later than 48 hours before your shift. Failure to do this will result in the volunteer leader removing you from the shift. If you have already done this for a prior shift, thank you and there’s no need to do it again.
About Victory Programs: Victory Programs has been helping individuals and families in crisis in the Boston area for over 40 years. Some 3,200 people turn to them each year for shelter, sustenance, recovery, care, and professional, compassionate support. When other organizations can’t or won’t take people in, they do.
Victory Programs’ Boston Living Center (BLC) is a community and resource center that fosters the wellness of all HIV positive people and responds to the changing needs of the HIV/AIDS community through education, treatment information, and support services. In an average year, their volunteers help serve over 30,000 meals at the BLC. All meals are designed by a nutritionist, and over 80% of BLC members report the BLC is the first or second source of food.
T-Accessible: The BLC is accessible by public transportation, located just a few blocks from both Back Bay (orange line) and Copley (green line).
