About the Tech Goes Home (TGH) Community Class:

Adults learn fundamental digital skills from local community site staff. Courses cover topics including but not limited to job searching, financial literacy, communicating with friends and family, and finding educational programs. The program involves 15 hours of training conducted by a TGH trained staff member from the community organization in which the course is run. Courses run in libraries, community centers, public housing developments, and more. Upon completion of a TGH course, participants have the option of purchasing a new computer for $50 and are able to sign up for low-cost Internet access.

About Tech Goes Home:

Tech Goes Home (TGH), founded in 2000, is a national award-winning initiative helping to provide under-served residents the opportunity, tools, education, and access required for 21st century skills development. With the support and backing of the city of Boston, TGH prioritizes low-income and underserved populations, including people from challenged neighborhoods, those without technology at home, the unemployed and underemployed, people who do not speak English, and individuals with disabilities. Most TGH households have incomes under $20,000 per year. Of the population TGH serves, 90% are people of color, 40% are English learners. About 45% of TGH School courses support students with special needs. TGH and Boston Cares have partnered since 2015 through the Basic Technology Corps. This class is a great way to try out a Corps project before you commit!
