Distribute Food at East End House Pantry

About the East End House Pantry: The East End House Emergency Food Pantry serves residents throughout the Boston area, primarily from East Cambridge. They support over 300 families per month by offering healthy, fresh, and shelf-stable foods in a dignified setting. By increasing access to good food, they promote the flourishing and achievement of children from low-income families. They receive most of their food from the Greater Boston Food Bank, Food for Free, and Lovin' Spoonfuls. In addition, they receive donations from local food drives and individuals in the community.

East End House is a “NUT FREE” zone. This includes peanuts and all other nuts. Please refrain from bringing any nut products or items that may have come into contact with peanuts or other nuts into the building.

Volunteers set up and clean up the pantry space, help receive weekly produce donations, and assist clients as they choose their own groceries from East End House’s available fresh produce and shelf-stable foods. After the pantry is over, volunteers also help set-up grocery bags for senior citizens or families in East End House, depending on the day.

People skills are a must for this opportunity! Their distribution is also an ideal time to employ or practice language skills - particularly Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish. Volunteers should be able to comfortably lift a minimum of 20 lbs, though we are happy to make reasonable accommodations.
