Backpack Packing for BPS Students

Boston Public Schools are in need of volunteers to help with packing 2,500 backpacks donated by Patriots player Joe Thuney to be given to BPS Students for the new school year! Volunteers are needed to help pack backpacks between 9 am and 2 pm on September 28th and 29th. 

Volunteers are asked to wear their own masks, but BPS staff will provide hand sanitizer. Volunteers will work in groups no larger than 10. The health and safety of our volunteers, Volunteer Leaders, and the people that we serve is our top priority. We are working with our Community Partners to ensure that state & city guidance is followed to slow the spread of COVID-19. Read about our Safety Requirements. 

We ask volunteers to be aware of their own health before signing up to help. If you do not feel well or have a fever, if you have knowingly been exposed to COVID-19, or if you have been ill/had a fever within the last 14 days, please do NOT sign up to volunteer. We will take all appropriate measures to ensure that both volunteers are safe throughout distribution by providing volunteers with hand sanitizer and other safety measures. Volunteers need to bring their own mask to participate in this opportunity.  

This individual opportunity is open to the community and any individual with a Boston Cares account and who follows our safety requirements may sign up. We ask all volunteers to sign up using the form below so that we can accurately track volunteer numbers and ensure enough people are scheduled to help. If you sign up and then find you are unable to volunteer, please log into your Boston Cares account and remove yourself from the project via the "my account" page so that another volunteer can take your place.
