Fill Book Requests at Prison Book Program

These sessions will engage volunteers in the same tasks as the other sessions at Prison Book Program; however, proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for all volunteers over 18 years if age, including a booster six months after a first J&J or a second Pfizer/Moderna shot. Vaccine cards or photos are acceptable proof of vaccination. Prison Book Program is trialing this policy with their Wednesday afternooon shifts.
Prison Book Program mails free books to prisoners in 44 states. PBP believes that education is a powerful tool that supports the humanity of prisoners and helps them survive prison and succeed when released. They have been sending books to prisoners since 1972.
Volunteers will select books to match prisoner requests, package books for mailing or do other tasks related to processing prisoner requests and book donations. Attention to detail is a very important component of this project!
Volunteers should be prepared to wear a mask at all times if needed. Social distancing and other measures may be implemented as the pandemic requires.
