Expect My Resistance
Expect my Resistance: Images of Queer & Trans Movement Values, Liberation & Resistance
This session will be an interactive conversation about moments in US queer history and how they relate to our work and values as public defenders.
About the presenter:
Connor Barusch (“Barusch”) (he/they) has worked as a public defender since 2011 and has done advocacy and training on transgender rights since long before that. They currently work as a trainer for the Massachusetts state-wide Public Defender, the Committee for Public Counsel Services, where they also represent clients charged with serious crimes. Barusch has been doing transgender competency trainings since 2003, long before law school, and has worked at a small firm focused on LGBTQ clients. As a law student, Barusch co-founded and worked at a free legal clinic called Massachusetts Transgender Legal Advocates and has served on the board and as a vice-chair of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition. Barusch loves working with clients and their communities, working on cases involving science or technology evidence, rock climbing, and hiking.
