Help with the Holiday Gift Toy Drive at the Home for Little Wanderers

The Toy Room, which serves as the primary drop-off location for all donated gifts during the Holiday Gift Drive, operates out of the gymnasium at the Knight Children’s Center in Jamaica Plain. This will be the third year that the Toy Room is entirely staffed by volunteers.

Over 300 enthusiastic, hardworking volunteers opened their hearts last year and offered a much-needed helping hand by volunteering in The Home’s Toy Room. The Home relies on volunteers to perform a variety of duties such as greeting donors, unloading and collecting donated items, sorting and stacking gifts and most importantly keeping the room organized and the process running smoothly. While the Toy Room is the primary drop site for the Holiday Gift Drive, The Home is utilizing other corporate partners who are hosting drop sites throughout the greater Boston area. We are also looking for volunteers to make occasional pick-ups throughout the month from these sites to be dropped off at the Toy Room. Despite the hard work involved, volunteering in the Toy Room is a magical experience that reflects the true spirit of the holiday season. It is an opportunity for individuals, friends, co-workers and families to be a part of something that touches the lives of the thousands of children and families that The Home serves each year. The nature of work will depend on the number and frequency of drop offs that day (which cannot be predicted). Please bring a book with you in case there is any downtime.
